People in the print media industry think that the iPad will help their industry as much as iTunes and the iPod helped the music industry. Companies have already begun to create applications that will be available for use on the iPad. The companies are looking to reach the younger generations, who have previously been allowed to read most newspaper articles online for free. This has been hurting the industry since they still need to pay all of the people it takes to make those articles happen (writers, editors, etc.).
It is not only newspapers who are making applications, but also magazines. Unfortunately this applications will not be free, but they will allow companies to become more "green" and reach newer audiences. Perhaps this will make more magazines global. The IT of all companies, print media or other, will need to stay on top of wealth of Apple applications. If the iPad is successful, it may be worth it for companies to spend the money to make an application.
The concern I have for if the tablet is how does it stand up to a laptop or even desk top computer. Will it actually replace the laptop? And since tablet computers already exist, is Apple too late in the game? Tablet PC's have not been very popular in the past, is putting the Apple logo on it and a trademark "i" name going to make it sell better.

Recently, I have been seeing a lot of advertisements for the new iPad. I think that the iPad could be a huge success or huge failure. It is a larger version of the iTouch and iPhone and there is also another feature called iBooks. iBooks is where the customer can buy books on the iPad, which is very similar to the Amazon’s Kindle. I am interested to see if the iPad will be a hit and how this technology will be expanded? Will it eventually have Microsoft programs so that students and businesses can use it? Many new competitors are planning to create tablets similar to the iPad, such as Panasonic and Toshiba. I also wonder about how the iPad stand up or if it will eventually replace the laptop.
